Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until combined.

Add the milk and half of the cheddar cheese to the saucepan. Stir until the cheese has melted and the mixture is smooth.

In a baking dish, layer half of the potato slices. Pour half of the cheese mixture over the potatoes.

Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes and cheese mixture.

Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Let the potato bake rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
