Cheese Pupusas
Pupusas are considered the national dish of El Salvador and are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

In a large bowl, mix the masa harina and water to form a soft dough.

Divide the dough into golf ball-sized portions and flatten them into discs.

Place a spoonful of refried beans and grated cheese in the center of each disc.

Fold the edges of the disc over the filling and seal the pupusa.

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Cook the pupusas for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.

Serve hot with salsa and curtido (pickled cabbage salad).
