Cardamom buns, also known as ‘kardemummabullar’ in Swedish, are a popular treat in Sweden and are often enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and cardamom.

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the milk and heat until warm (about 110°F/43°C).

Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well.

Add the egg and knead the dough until smooth and elastic.

Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.

Shape each piece into a bun and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Let the buns rest for about 15 minutes.

Brush the buns with a beaten egg and sprinkle pearl sugar on top.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let the buns cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!
