Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread the peanut butter evenly over the dough. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the peanut butter. Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top.

Crumble the remaining dough over the nuts, pressing lightly.

Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool completely in the baking dish.

Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 1 hour before cutting into bars.
