Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.

In a mixing bowl, sift together the cake flour and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt until foamy.

Gradually add the remaining 1 1/4 cups of granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

Gently fold in the sifted flour mixture and vanilla extract.

Pour the burnt sugar syrup over the batter and gently fold until well combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared tube pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and springs back when lightly touched.

Remove from the oven and invert the pan onto a wire rack to cool completely.
