Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease a baking dish.

Cut the bread into cubes.

In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.

Add the bread cubes and raisins to the milk mixture. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish.

Dot the top with butter.

Bake for 45 minutes or until set.

Optional: In a small saucepan, heat whiskey and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Drizzle over the bread pudding.
