  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions.
  4. Roll out one portion of dough into a rectangle approximately 12x8 inches.
  5. In a small mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground ginger. Spread half of the apple filling evenly over the rolled out dough.
