Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Fold in the blueberries.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.

Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the blueberry filling, combine the blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool.

For the buttercream, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until smooth and fluffy. Stir in the blueberry jam.

To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of blueberry filling on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the blueberry buttercream.

Garnish with fresh blueberries. Chill the cake for at least 1 hour before serving.
