Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until thickened.

Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.

Season with salt and black pepper.

In a baking dish, combine the steamed broccoli and cheese sauce.

Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
