  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Divide the dough in half. Add black gel food coloring to one half and mix until fully incorporated.
  8. Take a tablespoon of each dough and roll them into balls. Place the balls side by side on the baking sheet, slightly flattening them.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set.
  10. Remove from the oven and immediately press candy eyeballs into the center of each cookie.
  11. Cut the black licorice laces into small pieces and press them into the sides of each cookie to create bat wings and cat ears.
  12. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
