Banana Nut Bread
Banana bread became popular in the United States during the Great Depression as a way to use overripe bananas that would otherwise have been thrown away.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and mix until just combined. Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
