  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
