Banana Bread (with Walnuts and Chocolate Chips)
Banana bread became popular during the Great Depression as a way to use overripe bananas that would otherwise go to waste.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.

Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
