Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.

In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
