Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas.

In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time.

Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.

In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture.

Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
