Australian Cheese, Garlic and Chive Damper
Damper is a traditional Australian bread, originally made by swagmen (travellers) over campfires. It was a simple and versatile bread that could be cooked in the bush using only basic ingredients.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 50 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 6.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour, grated cheddar cheese, minced garlic, and chopped fresh chives.

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the melted butter and milk.

Stir until just combined, then turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.

Knead the dough gently for a few minutes until it comes together.

Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Use a sharp knife to score a cross on top of the loaf.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the damper is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
