Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Crush the chocolate cookies into fine crumbs. In a medium bowl, mix the crushed cookies with melted butter. Press the mixture into a 9-inch pie dish to form the crust.

In a saucepan, heat the whipping cream over medium heat until it starts to steam. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract, and whisk until well combined.

Slowly pour the chocolate mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.

Pour the chocolate filling into the prepared crust and smooth the top. Let it cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
