Alsatian Christmas Cookies
Alsatian Christmas Cookies, also known as Bredele, are a traditional Christmas treat from the Alsace region of France. These buttery cookies are often shaped into festive holiday shapes and are enjoyed during the Christmas season.

In a bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and ground nutmeg.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a dough forms.

Stir in the chopped almonds.

Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a log. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice the chilled dough logs into 1/4 inch (6 cm) thick rounds and place on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
