Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix together the almond extract and milk. Pour the mixture into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  6. Cut the dough into 8 wedges and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the sliced almonds, shredded coconut, and chocolate chips over the top of each scone wedge.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the scones cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Serve the Almond Joy Scones warm or at room temperature.
