Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, eggs, and salt until smooth.

Let the batter rest for 30 minutes.

Place the vegetable oil (and beef drippings, if using) into a 12-hole muffin tin and heat in the oven until sizzling hot.

Quickly pour the batter into the muffin tin holes, filling each one halfway.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puddings have risen and turned golden brown.

Serve immediately as a side dish with roast beef or other main dishes.
