Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Cook until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, beat the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Gradually add the browned butter, mixing well after each addition.

Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
