  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Brush the surface of the pastry with vanilla extract.
  4. Spread the jam evenly over the pastry.
  5. Starting from one end, roll the pastry tightly into a log.
  6. Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
  7. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the slices with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow the swirls to cool for 30 minutes.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
