Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a mini muffin tin with paper liners.

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, swirling occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork. Add the brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir until just combined.

Slowly pour in the brown butter while stirring continuously. Add the milk and stir until the batter is smooth.

Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer the muffins to a wire rack to cool completely.
