  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, flour, and baking powder until well combined.
  4. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps.
  6. Pour the caramel sauce into the bottom of a 9-inch round cake pan.
  7. Carefully pour the flan mixture over the caramel sauce.
  8. Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish and fill the larger dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cake pan.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the flan-cake cool in the water bath for 2 hours.
  11. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  12. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the cake pan to loosen the flan-cake.
  13. Invert the pan onto a serving plate, allowing the caramel sauce to drizzle over the top.
  14. Slice and enjoy!
