Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.

Gently fold in the blueberries.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using). Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the batter.
