Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

Cut the bread slices into cubes and place them in a large bowl.

In a small bowl, combine the raisins, dried cranberries, mixed peel, and brandy. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

In a saucepan, heat the milk, heavy cream, and granulated sugar over medium heat until it starts to steam.

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.

Slowly pour the heated milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

Pour the egg and milk mixture over the bread cubes and gently toss to coat.

Add the soaked fruits and any remaining brandy to the bread mixture, and stir gently.

Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and dot with butter.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown on top.
