  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  6. In a small bowl, dissolve the instant coffee in water.
  7. Stir in the ground almonds and coffee mixture into the batter.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
  9. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the top.
  10. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
