Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt for the dough.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until warm (around 110°F). Remove from heat and add the melted butter and egg. Whisk until well combined.
  3. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12x18-inch rectangle.
  8. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon over the butter.
  9. Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
  10. Place the rolls in the greased baking dish, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  11. Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese icing. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  13. Once the cinnamon rolls are done baking, let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the cream cheese icing over the top.
  14. Serve warm and enjoy!
