Thumbprint Cookies
Thumbprint cookies are believed to have originated in Sweden and are also known as Hallongrotta, which means ‘raspberry cave’ in Swedish.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Mix in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to make an indentation in the center of each cookie.

Fill each indentation with a teaspoon of jam or preserves.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
