  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the melted butter and granulated sugar. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the mashed bananas and chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
  10. Transfer the banana bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
