  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Stir in the mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  6. Arrange the tater tots on top of the beef mixture.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
