Sweet & Salty Chocolate Almond Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938. She added chopped up semi-sweet chocolate to her cookie dough, expecting it to melt and create chocolate cookies. However, the chocolate pieces stayed intact, giving birth to the beloved chocolate chip cookie.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.

Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped almonds.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
