Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Peel and cube the sweet potatoes.

Boil the sweet potatoes until tender, then drain.

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sweet potatoes, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Mash until smooth.

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.

Sprinkle the pecans evenly over the top.

Bake for 25 minutes.

Remove from the oven and add the marshmallows on top.

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden and slightly melted.
