Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Press the sugar cookie dough into the bottom of a greased 9-inch springform pan.

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Add the eggs, one at a time, and continue beating until well combined.

Pour the cream cheese mixture over the sugar cookie crust in the springform pan.

Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the cheesecake is set and slightly golden on top.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.

Spread the cherry pie filling over the top of the cheesecake.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until chilled.

Serve chilled with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
