  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just blended.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely before removing from the pan.
  9. Slice the cake in half horizontally.
  10. Hull and slice the strawberries.
  11. Place the bottom half of the cake on a serving plate and top with half of the sliced strawberries.
  12. Spread a layer of whipped cream over the strawberries.
  13. Place the top half of the cake over the whipped cream and repeat the layers of strawberries and whipped cream.
  14. Garnish with additional strawberries and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
