In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the date mixture.

In a small saucepan, heat the double cream, dark brown sugar, and butter over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has thickened.
