  1. In a saucepan, combine the dried figs and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. In a food processor, blend the figs until smooth.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar. Add the egg and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Fold in the pureed figs.
  7. Grease a pudding mold or heatproof bowl. Pour the batter into the mold and cover with foil.
  8. Place the mold in a steamer or large pot with a steamer basket. Steam for 1 hour.
  9. Remove from heat and let rest for 10 minutes.
  10. Carefully remove the pudding from the mold and serve warm with whipped cream.
