Deviled eggs are believed to have originated in ancient Rome, where they were served as a first course known as ‘gustatio’.

This is vegetarian, gluten free and low carb recipe. Dish can be prepared in 30 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 8.

  1. Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 9 minutes.
  2. Remove the eggs from the saucepan and place them in a bowl of ice water to cool.
  3. Once cooled, gently tap each egg on a hard surface and peel off the shell.
  4. Cut each egg in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks.
  5. In a bowl, mash the yolks with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Spoon the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
  7. Slice the black olives into thin strips and use them to create a skull face on each deviled egg.
  8. Cut the red bell pepper into small triangles and use them to create eyes and a mouth for each skull.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve chilled.
