Samosas originated in the Middle East and were brought to India by traders, where they became a popular snack.

This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 60 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 18.

  1. Boil the potatoes and peas until cooked. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onion, green chili, ginger, and garlic. Saute until golden brown.
  3. Add coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add boiled potatoes and peas. Mash them together and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix well and remove from heat.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, salt, and water to form a dough.
  7. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
  8. Cut the circle in half and form a cone shape.
  9. Fill the cone with the potato mixture and seal the edges.
  10. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the samosas until golden brown.
  11. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
