Salted caramel treats are believed to have originated in France in the late 1970s and have since become a popular dessert around the world.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and cook until it turns into a golden caramel color.

Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly, until the caramel is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the sea salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.

Add the caramel sauce and eggs to the flour mixture and mix until well combined.

Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the treats to cool for 30 minutes before serving.
