Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.

Mix in the vanilla extract.

Combine the all-purpose flour, ground walnuts, and salt; gradually add to the butter mixture until well blended.

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 12 minutes, or until set but not browned.

While still warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar. Allow to cool completely on wire racks.

Once cooled, roll the cookies in powdered sugar again.
