Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, mix together the melted unsalted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.

Add the egg, vanilla extract, and dark rum to the butter mixture and mix well.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
