  2. Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  3. In a large pot, add the sweet potatoes and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender.
  4. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.
  5. Add the butter, brown sugar, rum, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the pot. Mash the sweet potatoes until smooth and well combined with the other ingredients.
  6. Transfer the sweet potato mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  7. Sprinkle the pecans evenly over the top.
  8. Arrange the marshmallows on top of the pecans.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
