In a large bowl, mix together the flour, butter, cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until a smooth dough forms.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and wrap each portion in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out one portion of the dough into a circle. Spread a thin layer of jam or fruit preserves over the dough and sprinkle with chopped nuts and ground cinnamon.

Cut the dough into 8 wedges and roll each wedge tightly from the wider end to the point. Place the rugelach on the prepared baking sheet.

Repeat with the remaining portions of dough and filling.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Allow the rugelach to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
