Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add the granulated sugar and cocoa powder, and mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla extract. Add this mixture to the butter-sugar-cocoa mixture and stir until combined.

Gradually add the flour and salt, and mix until just combined. Fold in the chopped nuts, if desired.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for 30 minutes.

Once cooled, remove the brownies from the pan using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
