  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until well combined.
  5. Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of a greased 9-inch square baking dish.
  6. Spread the raspberry jam evenly over the dough.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough over the jam.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
  10. Serve with fresh raspberries and a dusting of powdered sugar.
