  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a round cake tin.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Sift in the plain flour, baking powder, and cinnamon, and fold into the mixture gently.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the greased cake tin and spread evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the sponge cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. In a separate bowl, whip the cream and icing sugar until soft peaks form.
  10. Slice the cooled sponge into individual servings.
  11. Serve each slice topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a handful of fresh raspberries.
