Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts.

Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture over the batter. Repeat with the remaining batter and brown sugar mixture.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the coffeecake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
