  2. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.

  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potato slices, followed by half of the sautéed onion and garlic mixture, and half of the grated cheddar cheese. Season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Pour the milk over the top layer and cover the dish with foil.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
