  1. Boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash them.
  2. In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  3. In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, sautéed onion and garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape them into burger patties.
  5. Heat olive oil in a pan and cook the patties on medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Toast the burger buns.
  7. Place a lettuce leaf, a tomato slice, a potato patty, and a cheese slice on the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve hot.
